Minnesota State Fair
ROLE: GRAPHIC DESIGNER | CLIENT: MINNESOTA STATE FAIR | YEAR: 2018
The "Great Minnesota Get-Together" attracts two million guests each year. Throughout my time as a designer I was tasked with various projects such as branding and identity creation for [a] the X-Zone, [b] Cosgrove Stage, and [c] the Dirt. Many of which included typography, illustration, repeat patterns, and multiple large format posters. I also designed and installed a 15x13 ft mural for the [d] Miracle of Birth center. For all projects I was responsible for conceptual work, artwork approval, print production, and final installation unless otherwise noted (drills, saws, scissor-lifts? You betcha!)
[A] THE X-ZONE
Known for their daredevil skateboard and BMX bike demonstrations by 3rd Lair SkatePark, the X-Zone attracts thousands of guests over the course of 12 days. The X-Zone logo was designed to stand on its own – it is a controlled, structural logo that represents the concrete jungle of a skatepark. The logo is colored in a dominant two-tone blue that is a nod to the Fair’s branding and has a sharp, red grounding accent color. I also designed and illustrated multiple supporting icons that form into a repeat pattern.
[B] COSGROVE STAGE
When asked to rebrand The Cosgrove Stage, which hosts various dance groups whose performances represent swing, square and line dance, Zumba, clogging, and tango to name a few, I mixed old with new to create a groovy, energetic, ode-to-the-past logo that explores dimension and movement.

[C] THE DIRT
The Dirt demo state offers demonstrations from outdoor experts, master gardeners, talented florists, and lawn enthusiasts. When asked to design a new logo and supporting print collateral I leaned into the educational ethos of The Dirt. I landed on simple illustrations that represent the plant life cycle: seeds, soil, sunlight, bees for pollination, and the end product: fruit and vegetables!
[D] Miracle of Birth Center
Design and execution of the CHS Miracle of Birth Center mural (approximately 15ft x 13ft), that provides fun facts and educational information about the center for guests.
ADDITIONAL PROJECTS: PRODUCTION & EXECUTION
Hand-painted mural that I assisted in executing (designed by Jordan Harper). Updated the designs and installed final vinyl to the Visiting Royalty trailer.
